hey there

I am so glad you decided to find out a little bit more about me... so what can I say?

I've always considered myself a creative person. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was always drawing, painting, and anything else that allowed me to express myself artistically. Although I’ve always had a deep appreciation for photography as an art form, my professional journey as a photographer began unexpectedly in 2003. On a whim, I enrolled in an intro photojournalism class while attending Boston University. I immediately knew I was hooked - I fell in love with telling people's stories with my photos, declared it as my major and graduated with a degree in photojournalism.

After spending a few years working on staff at daily newspapers, I decided to take my photography in a new direction. I chose to turn my passion into a full-time business focused on capturing portraits and weddings, something I had been doing since my early days (I photographed my first wedding just one month after graduating from BU in 2006). Now, I focus my work on capturing the special moments in my clients' lives - and wouldn't have it any other way.

aside from photography,

HERE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT ME:

  • I am a friend, a sister, a daughter, and, maybe most importantly, an aunt. My nieces and nephews (pictured) range from elementary aged to 19-years-old, and I think my relationship with each one is unique and amazing.

  • My pronouns are she/her.

  • I am conscious of the earth and our environment - I haven't eaten red meat since I was 12-years-old. I was fully vegetarian for many years and in the past couple of years have made the switch to being pescatarian, though I still eat vegetarian much of the time.

  • I love cooking and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and I think if I wasn’t a photographer, I would maybe have become a chef.

  • I learned to bake from my pastry chef mom when I was a kid, and now I decorate cakes for fun.

  • I am a total nerd at heart and love all things Harry Potter, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Stranger Things.

  • I am a true New England girl. I was born and raised here and don’t think I could live anywhere that wasn’t within 10 minutes of the beach!

  • I believe in giving back, and volunteer my time as a photographer with Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and also currently serve as President of the Fiddleheads Food Co-op Board of Directors. In the past, I have also volunteered with Help-Portrait, Connecticut Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Hispanic Alliance of SECT, ShopBlackCT.com and more.

  • I like to make my own body products - this is a weird one, I know! I am a big believer in knowing what we put in and on our bodies, and have discovered all of the amazing concoctions you can create at home, ranging from lip balms to lotions, and even handmade cold-processed soaps!

  • I believe in celebrating diversity. I am incredibly proud of my Puerto Rican heritage -  which means my ancestors are Indigenous, African and European - and I love getting to capture the unique backgrounds of my clients as well.

  • I started a photo project to highlight the amazing women in my hometown in the spring of 2019.

  • I am someone who believes in the good in people and the beauty of the human spirit.
